Your Privacy - hiding your tracks

For reasons of privacy, security or safety, you may not want others to know you've visited this website.

If you have any reason to want to 'hide your tracks' you can try the steps below to make it harder for someone to find out you've visited this (or any other) website.

By clearing the 'cache' and 'history' you make it much harder (but not impossible) for another person who has access to your computer to find out where you've been on the internet.

Cleaning out these files will free up memory/disc space on your computer, so it's a good maintenace procedure; and that's a good explanation if questioned.

Removing your tracks

Internet Explorer

  1. Go to 'Tools' Menu and select 'Internet Options ...'
  2. On the 'General' Tab in the 'Temporary Internet files' section
  3. select the 'Delete Cookies' button and click 'OK'
  4. select 'Delete Files' button, check 'delete all offline content' and click OK
  5. Next go to the 'History' section (still under the general tab)
  6. Select the 'Clear History' button
  7. Hit 'yes' to delete History of visited web site
  8. Click OK and your done!

Netscape

  1. Go to 'Edit' Menu and select 'Preferences...'
  2. Go to the 'Navigator' Category (may need to expand category to do next step)
  3. Select 'History' sub-category
  4. click 'Clear History' button
  5. Next go to Advanced Category (may need to expand category to do next step)
  6. Select 'Cache' sub-category
  7. click 'Clear Cache' button and/or 'Clear Memory Cache' button (depending on version of browser)
  8. click 'Clear Disk Cache' button (depending on version of browser)
  9. Click 'OK' in Preferences window and your done!

Other Browsers

You will need to clear the cache and erase the history list
