10 STEPS TO BECOMING A TEAM CAPTAIN1 Organize your friends, family or co-workers into a team of 6 to 8 people. No bowling experience necessary. 2 Choose a team name. Be silly, daring, or quirky - this is your chance to stand out! 3 Decide when – and how - you want to bowl: 1pm, 4pm or 7pm. All three shifts offer 5- or 10- pin cosmic bowling. Also, new this year: retro 5-pin bowling! (That’s bowling with manual scoring.) 4 Register by February 9, 2007. The earlier you confirm, the more choices you have. Teams registering by January 31, 2007 qualify for early bird prizes! 5 Make sure all team members have a pledge form. We will issue tax receipts for donations of $20 or more if requested, so make sure to record donor information on the form. 6 Collect pledges. As many as you can! 7 As team captain, be a cheerleader for your group’s fundraising efforts. Prizes are awarded to those who go the extra mile! 8 Before the Bowlathon, remind your team members to bring all the money they’ve raised. Cheques can be made payable to the TRCC/MWAR or our full name. 9 On the day of the Bowlathon, the team captain’s job is to collect all pledge forms and money and bring them to the registration desk. This is where you can pick up any prizes your team members have earned. 10 Go bowling and have fun! MORE INFO: Make sure all team members have a pledge form and a postcard. Each bowler will canvas their network of family, friends, etc. to collect pledges to bowl. The pledges are a flat fee, not a per pin amount. Tax receipts will only be issued for donations of $20.00 or more, and only if requested. Also, we ask all bowlers to ensure that names and addresses are legible and complete with postal code.
